Bayern Munich vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Thomas Muller, Bayern Munich, 2020-21

Bayern Munich welcome Atletico Madrid to the Allianz Arena as Hansi Flick's men begin the defence of their Champions League title on Wednesday evening.

The Bundesliga champions are clear favourites to get off to a winning start, although they could be made to work hard by Diego Simeone's side who are the only unbeaten team left in La Liga.

The Bavarians have not lostat home in the group stages of the competition since 2013 and bet365 offer them at 1/2 (1.50) to record what would be their 12th consecutive Champions League victory.

Atleticowere knocked out of the tournament by RB Leipzig in August and lost 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen last season in their most recent visit to Germany, and Los Rojiblancos can be backed at 19/4 (5.75) with the draw at 18/5 (4.60).

Bayern are without injured duo Leroy Sane and Tanguy Nianzou while Serge Gnabry has tested positive for coronavirus and is unavailable.

The visitors will be without forward Diego Costa, midfielder Saul Niguez and defenders Sime Vrsaljko and Jose Maria Gimenez.

The German champions have been in blistering form since the start of 2020, a year which has seen them claim their sixth European Cup byblowing away the competition in startling fashion.

Arguably Europe's best attacking side after netting an incredible 43 times in last season's competition, Bayern will face a team on Wednesday that has long since staked a claim to be the continent's strongest defensive unit.

Atletico have conceded just once in their four La Liga matches so far this term, and while Bayern will provide the sternest test imaginable for Simeone's side, the La Liga outfit will be confident of frustrating the current European champions.

Few sides if any can withstand Bayern's relentless attacking assault, yet Atletico have the structure and personnel to, at the very least, keep the score down at the Allianz Arena.

Seven of Atletico's last nine group games in the Champions League have seen under 2.5 goals and a repeat is offered at a healthy looking 6/5 (2.20).
